Sea Life Park Hawai‘i first opened on the shores of Waimānalo in 1964, and has since provided guests from across the local community and around the world with the experience of seeing daily marine conservation work firsthand. It is not only one of the state's greatest attractions, but a community partner and resource for immersive learning about preserving our precious ocean environments and marine life.
On your ride over to the park, be sure to take in the world-renowned beauty of Koko Head, Sandy Beach and Hanauma Bay along the stunning windward coast of Oʻahu. As you arrive at Sea Life Park in historic Waimānalo, behold picturesque Mānana Island just off of Kaupō Beach and the famed Makapuʻu Lighthouse, flanked by the majesty of the Koʻolau Mountains.
Guests are invited to learn about the creatures in and around the islands with Hawaiʻi-focused exhibits from the native Honu (Hawaiian green sea turtle) and vibrant reef fish to the Hawaiian monk seal. The park is built upon an intricate, specialized, flow-through water system, which draws from the ocean through seawater wells that allow seawater to be filtered through naturally occurring lava rock and sand before entering our animal habitats. The system provides a constant source of fresh seawater to each exhibit, mimicking each species’ natural environment.
The only luau on Oahu in partnership with Sea Life Park, allows guests general admission with their ticket packages (access to park varies by ticket type). Choose any day of the week: Sundays through Friday nights for an exciting exploration through the islands of Polynesia. Each show is culminated with world fire-knife competitors in a stunning display of skill and performances. Pre-show cultural activities include orchid lei making (wristlets), hula lessons with traditional implements, Polynesian tattoos (stamping), ʻulu maika and ʻukulele lessons.
Since its establishment in 1964, the park has provided triage as well as homes for animals with complex medical conditions and backgrounds. Its protection and conservation efforts have continued and expanded to include a Seabird Sanctuary, Honu Conservation Program, and refuge for rescued sea lions, as well as synergistic partnerships with the Waimānalo Limo Hui, Oceanic Institute and more.
Sea Life Park has a variety of educational opportunities for guests and local students including daily presentations at key exhibits, animal interactions, field trips and additional resources to continue learning at home.
The beauty of marine life up close and personal... it's an amazing opportunity to create special memories and photos to last a lifetime.
Interact with Sea Lions, or light up your social media feed swimming with whitetip reef sharks; and of course, witnessing the graceful beauty and intelligence of our bottlenose dolphin face-to-face would be the ultimate Hawaii memory!
